The music industry has been booming lately, with a lot of success stories coming out almost every day now. Making it in this industry, though, is not as easy as it seems. The fact that more and more people have been finding success only means that the competition is getting tougher every day. And with it comes a lot of misinformation.
It is therefore very important to ensure that you are equipped with the most up to date and accurate information if you are to make it in this industry. Unfortunately, the music industry is constantly changing, making it difficult to keep up with the latest information.
This is where the Music Entrepreneur Club comes in. It is a platform that has been designed to help you carve out a path for yourself in the industry by helping you as an independent artist or music producer to navigate the music industry. It does this by providing mentorship programs to its members, giving them the necessary information and advice that will guide them in the industry.

Who are the people behind it?
One of the co-founders of Music Entrepreneur Club is Damien “Dame” Ritter. Before 2008, Damien Ritter had no experience in the music industry apart from being a music fan. He worked as a management consultant for Deloitte Consulting in their Strategy & Operations division.
Before that, he had graduated with an undergraduate degree in Business from UC Berkeley then worked as an Internal Auditor for Wells Fargo in San Fransisco and at Goldman Sachs in London. He then got an MBA from Stanford University. All this seems like an unlikely path to the music industry.
However, in 2008, Damien Ritter was laid off from Deloitte. It was then that his brother and Hopsin, who was his brother’s friend, reached out to him and asked him to help them start a record label. Since he had no job at the time and he had belief in their talent, they set out to build the record label, turning the dream into reality. The record label was named Funk Volume. In the eight years that the record label was run by Damien, Funk Volume grew to be a very successful independent Record Label.
Unfortunately, after what was thought to be a very simple argument with his business partner, Funk Volume came to a very embarrassing end when the disputes escalated further. Funk Volume collapsed with both parties having different versions of what ensued leading to the dispute. The crashing of Funk Volume guided Damien Ritter to his new passion: Music Entrepreneur Club.
What is Music Entrepreneur Club?
Music Entrepreneur Club is a platform with two mentorship programs: Music Entrepreneur Club and BeatClub. The platform provides an opportunity for musicians to learn live weekly from professionals who are established in the music industry.
The Music Entrepreneur Club mentorship program takes place on Monday nights and it is open to people who are interested in joining the music industry while BeatClub training sessions, specifically designed for music producers, take place on Tuesday nights.
The training sessions are available in the form of live weekly video chats with established professionals in your field of interest, monthly webinars with special guests, participation in the platform’s private group, and a live song critique session which takes place monthly.
Members of BeatClub get to participate in live beat collaborations with other members of the platform, monthly beat critiques, a monthly session with professional award-winning instrumentalists and one sample kit every month from DJ Pain 1, including stems and MIDI.
This allows MEC members to not only interact with professionals but also among themselves, creating a conducive environment for growth in the music industry.
What is the goal of this course?
The purpose of Music Entrepreneur Club is to empower and educate artists, giving them the ability to navigate the music industry without any fear. It also purposes to help independent musicians to build relationships and connections with people in the industry, and to learn how to build an empire around their art.
Through the platform, you get to learn how to grow a business in the industry as one of the goals of Music Entrepreneur Club is to help you gain an entrepreneurial mindset when it comes to music. This is because having a successful career in music requires a lot more than just making good music.
Music Entrepreneur Club does not hide any of the harsh truths of the music industry and the course is delivered without sugarcoating anything. The lessons provided on this platform will help open doors for you in the future as they apply to any business.
Another goal of the MEC is to ensure that its members not only get to learn from the professionals offering lessons on the platform but also from other members. This is because most of the time many new artists only try networking with accomplished and established professionals who have a lot of experience in the industry, forgetting to develop with their peers.
They do this ignoring the fact that the next wave of label owners, successful artists, lawyers, or managers, are their peers today who may be a more important connection in the near future. MEC tries to ensure that this goal is achieved by constantly creating more opportunities for members of the platform to engage and build each other so that they can support one another to get to their next levels.
What is contained in this program?
Different topics are tackled each week on Music Entrepreneur Club. The course includes several topics aimed at helping a musician develop a successful music career.
Some of these topics include but are not limited to: music production, marketing, publishing, merchandising, management, touring, networking, legal, public relations, monetization of your music, building your team, and social media integration to help you establish yourself as a musician.
Also, they provide answers to the questions that most artists ask themselves at different points of their careers such as how to find a manager, what publishing is, or how they can start touring. The course also includes both basic and complex issues affecting the music industry, shedding light on these issues.
